Advanced Technology Center, IIT Kharagpur, in association with Department of Physics & Meteorology and Department of Electronics & ECE is organizing an International Conference on “MEMS and Semiconductor Nanotechnology” to be held in the campus of IIT Kharagpur during December 20-22, 2005, preceded by Tutorials on December 19, 2005.

The IIT Alumni Association of Sydney Australia is hosting a dinner on July 8th 2005. Our very own Arjun Malhotra would be the guest of honor.

Update:The alumni dinner is actually on July 8th and not on 18th as was incorrectly mentioned earlier.

I came across this article about fellow alumnus Amitava Bhattacharya — who, after graduating from IIT Kharagpur and then working in India and the US for a few years,

set up a company whose business is to eradicate various evils that plague society — like AIDS, resistance to polio immunisation programmes, illiteracy, power theft.

Not every day do you come across IITians who have chosen to go this route.

A recent Dataquest-IDC-Nasscom survey has ranked IIT Kharagpur as the 4th best Engineering college in India. IIT Kharagpur ’s “Composite Score” was 73.1, whereas #1 ranked IIT Kanpur scored 77.5. IIT Kharagpur was ranked #1 in the “Industry Interface” category.

No surprises. IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur, in that order, establish themselves comfortably in the top four and live up to our expectations.

It is not clear exactly what methodology was used to come up with the ranking.
