The Fourth Annual Alumni Meet will be held during January 6-7, 2007. The theme of this year’s meet is "IITs Tomorrow: the shape and purpose of your Alma Mater in the next decade". The message below is quoted from IIT Kharagpur website announcing the event:
We extend special invitation to those who received their degrees in years 1957 and 1982 and provide free hospitality at the campus. Alumni of other batches are required to contribute a token amount of rupees one thousand to partially cover the cost of the event. You are requested to register early (not later than October 31 2006), so that we are not loaded with the registrations at the last moment. We have three guest houses in the institute which can accommodate about 200 guests. We shall arrange accommodation in guest houses of the institute on first-come-first-serve basis. Preference will be given to those who missed earlier alumni meets.

Join Arvind Kejriwal (1989 NH ME), recipient of the prestigious Ramon Magsasay award for 2006, as he travels accors the USA for a series of public talks and discussions about fighting corruption in India.
Arvind Kejriwal (known to his KGP friends as “Kejri”) is the eminent Indian leader and activist who was awarded the 2006 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership for his contributions to the landmark Right To Information law in India and for “activating the right to information movement at the grassroots”. His work has empowered Indian citizens to fight corruption and resulted in community-led efforts that have uncovered massive laundering of funds and corruption in various Government projects.
After he graduated from IIT Kharagpur with a B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering (class of 1989) Arvind became an officer in the Indian civil services. He was serving as Joint Commissioner in the Indian Revenue Services when he resigned to devote his time fully to fight corruption in India. He founded an Indian based citizens’ movement Parivartan (in 2000) that has been fighting for just, transparent and accountable governance. His other honors include the Ashoka Fellowship (since 2004) and the Satyendra Dubey Award from IIT Kanpur (2005).
Arvind is currently visiting various cities in the USA and speaking about the Right to Information Act and how we can eliminate corruption in all levels of government. Please attend one of these events, learn about Arvind’s sterling work and honor and celebrate the achievements of one of our very own.
