MB Scholarship, in memory of Malayesh Banerjee

On Nov 26 2008, the life of IIT KGPian Malayesh Banerjee was cut short tragically. However, his spirit still lives on. Malayesh’s batchmates and his friends and family have set up a scholarship fund in his memory, the “MB Scholarship”.

This scholarship would be awarded to a 3rd-year undergraduate student at IIT Kharagpur, based on his or her performance. The performance criterion would be the same as that of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy Memorial Gold Medal ("BC Roy Gold Medal") — the same committee that awards the BC Roy Gold Medal would also award the MB Scholarship. For more details on this scholarship and to learn more about Malayesh, visit: http://www.alumnet.iitkgp.ernet.in/mbscholarship .

Now the IIT Foundation is proud to accept online donation to this fund. Please visit our online donation page and donate generously.

Nominations needed: Distinguished Alumnus Award and Distinguished Service Award

IIT KharagpurIIT Kharagpur is inviting nominations from you, for two awards, The Distinguished Alumni Award, and The Distinguished Service Award. For details on these awards, and help on how to nominate
someone for these awards, please visit the award home page: http://iitkgp.ac.in/top-awardees. Here is the Invitation to send in your nominations from Prof. Amit Patra, Dean of Alumni Affairs:

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur recognizes the professional excellence of its alumni through the Distinguished Alumnus Award. So far about 30 alumni have received this prestigious Award. Please visit our website (http://www.iitkgp.ac.in/top-awardees) to know the accomplishments of these distinguished individuals. However, it is believed that many others are also deserving of such recognition and we need the help and cooperation of all alumni of the Institute to identify and nominate them for the same.

From this year IIT Kharagpur has started a new Award called the Distinguished Service Award to recognize the contribution of alumni to the Institute or the alumni community. This contribution could be in the form of taking up organizational activity among the community, giving back to IIT Kharagpur in any form like mentoring students, supporting research through collaborations or funding support, etc.

Details regarding the eligibility and the process of selection of these awards along with a nomination form, are also available on this website. You are requested to help us identify those alumni of this Institute, who, in your opinion should be considered for these Awards and get the nomination form filled up and submitted to the Office of the undersigned by 31st March, 2010. A soft copy of the nomination form should also be submitted by email to deanaa@hijli.iitkgp.ernet.in . Nominations received after this will be considered for the next year.
