Q. What do IIT Roorkee and IIT Delhi have in common (besides each of them being an "IIT")?
A. They now both have directors who graduated from IIT Kharagpur. Prof. Surendra Prasad was appointed last October as the Director of IIT Delhi. Prof. Prasad graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 1969 (B. Tech ME).
For those of you wondering about IIT Roorkee, it’s director Prof. Prem Vrat is also a graduate of IIT Kharagpur (B. Tech 1966 ME, M.Tech 1968 ME).
IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee are the only two IITs that don’t have a motto. BTW, if they do have one, tell me. I came here through Google searching for their mottos.

Surendra was in Electronics and Tele Communications. I am naturally delighted that my old Hall mate ( we are Patelians) has reached this height!
