Call for Nominations


For the
Term: July 1, 2002 -- June 30, 2004

The Board of Directors of the IIT Foundation, whose term ends June 30, 2002, has formed a Nominating Committee consisting of Dr. Suhas Patil (1965 batch alumnus), Dr. Arvind Jain (1969 batch, current President), and Mr. Arjun Malhotra (1970 batch) to coordinate the process of establishing the leadership of the Foundation for the 2002-2004 term.

The Nominating Committee is currently soliciting and accepting nominations for:

Please send all nominations by e-mail to nominate@iitfoundation.org. The deadline for receiving nominations is March 31, 2002. In your e-mail message, please mention the name of the person who you are nominating, information on how to contact him/her, and the post(s) you are nominating the person for.

The selection will be completed by April 15, 2002, with the new board members taking office on or before July 1, 2002.

Board Structure

The 2002-2004 IIT Foundation Board of Directors will consist of 15 persons as follows:
  • President
  • Vice-President/President-elect
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer (Past-president, Arvind Jain)
  • Five major donors (Suhas Patil, Arjun Malhotra, P.C. Chatterjee, Sunil Munshani and Vinod Gupta)
  • One representative from each of six U.S. chapters: Chicago (Midwest), Houston, New York, Silicon Valley, Southern California and Washington, D.C.

Current Board members with terms expiring in June 2002 will be given "emeritus" status.

Governance Structure

The governance structure for 2002-2004 will include an Operating Committee responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Foundation consistent with the philosophical and strategic direction of the Foundation set by the Board of Directors. The Operating Committee will consist of the President, the Vice-President, the Treasurer, the Secretary, the six Chapter leaders, and other active alumni upon nomination and majority Operating Committee approval.

Other committees may be added later during the 2002-2004 term upon majority Board approval.

Serving as a member of the board of the IIT Foundation is a wonderful way for IIT Kharagpur alumni to give something back to their alma mater and to re-connect with IIT. Please note that such service is strictly voluntary, carries no financial remuneration, and entails ethical and legal responsibilities to serve the mission of the IIT Foundation.
