IIT Kharagpur’s medical college to launch MBBS course in 2024

In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, IITKGP has announced that it will launch the MBBS course in the BC Roy Institute of Medical Science and Technology. The program will focus on medicine with an emphasis on engineering and technology. Students will be admitted to the course through the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) UG. IITKGP is awaiting permission from the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with the National Medical Commission (NMC) for starting the proposed MBBS programme at the institute from 2024. IITKGP has also announced that the institute has launched joint B.tech and M.tech degree programs in medical science & technology. Direct Tewari said that "In the UG and PG curriculum, the choice of electives has been broadened. Further, interdisciplinary dual-degree programmes have been introduced.”
